Written by MHA's founder, Clifford W. Beers, and originally published in 1908, A Mind that Found Itself is an autobiographical account of Beers' life including his experiences while hospitalized for mental illness and the abuses he suffered and witnessed.
Out of this effort came MHA's motto to #fightintheopen, openly embracing one's lived experience as a way to help others.
